" If I had to learn from scratch all over again, I would want a site like this."

About Dr. S

The inspiration for this site was motivated by years of frustration over the lack of FHIR training directed at non-developers. Dr.S wasted time traversing internet rabbit holes; only to learn that they were superficial, outdated, or flat out wrong!

FHIR is a complex, evolving medical knowledge representation platform meant to translate what we do to a standard that computers will understand. To be successful, It will require cooperation between teams of experts communicating with each other. Like the tower of Babel, failure comes in the inability to understand each other. At the present time, there are too few of us on the clinical side that can engage developers in a meaningful way.

Stop wasting time! Make this your “First Stop FHIR Shop! “

Let Dr.S shorten the learning curve!

This web site is the brainchild of Dr.S; a board-certified Internist who spent 35 years in private practice and 15 years as an Informaticist. He served as a CMO and CMIO in health systems, and is a former Associate Director of Health Information Technology in “big Pharma”. Dr.S has an MBA in healthcare administration; and was certified in Clinical Informatics in 2013; having been in the first group sitting for the national examination in that new specialty. While a member of HL7 International, he sat quietly in back of the classroom and earned a proficiency badge in the FHIR R3 standard. Dr.S is an innovator; currently working on clinical decision support solutions for practicing physicians. His focus on FHIR is key, but having studied at MIT, Dr.S would like  to share thoughts on how AI, blockchain and other complimentary  technologies can be deployed in healthcare environments.
